Reporting to the Manager of Planning and Analysis, complete research projects including, primarily, the retention and success of students. Deliverables include a literature review, research methodology, quantitative and qualitative data collection and analysis, student focus groups and interviews with various stakeholders, and drafting a final report. Ensure that the project adheres to institutional policy and procedures and any information sharing and confidentiality agreements.
Use information systems and databases extensively to analyze data; prepare and present statistical, written and verbal reports; contribute content to the departmental website; and maintain records and archives. Interact with faculty and staff, students, external stakeholders, and the public, and deal with sensitive and confidential information.
Bachelor's Degree from an appropriately accredited institution or equivalent technical training in a related discipline, such as social science, education research, statistics or business management. Three to five years related experience; or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered. Experience designing and conducting research, including research methodology and knowledge of statistical techniques (quantitative and qualitative) and their application to educational and survey research. Extensive use of database and spreadsheet software such as Access, Excel, and SPSS, and of Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.
Effective writing and presentation skills and the ability to convey technical and statistical information to a non-technical audience. Accuracy of work and attention to detail are essential. Positive attitude, with strong interpersonal communication skills and the ability to work in a collaborative team environment and a shared open workspace.
Familiarity with the post-secondary education system. Experience designing and conducting focus groups. Post-graduate degree from an appropriately accredited institution in a related discipline. Familiarity with issues related to educational assessment, accountability and performance measurement.|
