| Duties: |
Varied term positions. Instructors may be required to teach in a variety of courses and/or programs, including multi-level English for Academic Purposes, English for General Purposes, and English for Specific Purposes (e.g., English for Horticulture). Instructors may be assigned to teach in the ELC Writing Centre, ELC Learning Centre or provide instructional ESL writing support for MBA students. |

Candidates must demonstrate commitment to teaching, learning, and student success through ongoing professional training, subject currency, and institutional service. Successful candidates will participate in a wide range of activities outside the classroom, including student support; institutional, faculty and department committees; meetings and other initiatives; and professional activities in keeping with their disciplines in and outside the institution.

| Required Qualifications: |
Bachelor's Degree from an appropriately accredited institution. One of the following: Professional Education Degree with ESL teaching experience; TESL Certificate or Diploma recognized by TESL Canada; or meet TESL Canada criteria equivalent to Professional Standard One (permanent). Recent documented experience (Minimum 1000 hours) teaching adult ESL and / or EFL. Familiarity with relevant computer applications. |
| Preferred Qualifications: |
Master's Degree in a related field from an appropriately accredited institution. Ability to teach using Language Lab systems. ESL teaching experience at Vancouver Island University. Second language learning experience, international experience. Applicants who have already to applied to this opportunity need not reapply. |
