The English Language Centre works within the International Education area servicing both international and community students. It runs three full semesters each year with three mid-semester intakes. The majority of the students are new to Canada. | |
| Duties: |
Provide support to instructors with computer programs, book orders, vehicle and room bookings, process teaching materials, exams, correspondence and course outlines. General office duties, such as photocopying, maintain office equipment, order supplies, telephone reception and processing mail. Data input and maintenance of the teaching resource room and learning centres. Maintain all departmental audio visual equipment. Gather and compile ELC statistics. Maintain the community student database, records and correspondence.
Provide English Language Centre reception services to domestic and international students. Provide relief coverage for the International Student Service Representatives. |
| Required Qualifications: |
Grade 12 plus additional coursework equivalent to 6 - 30 college credits related to administration from an appropriately accredited institution. One to three years recent relevant experience. Senior- level proficiency in MS Office. 50 wpm typing speed. Demonstrated ability to work independently and in the context of a team. Demonstrated ability to exercise good judgment, tact, diplomacy and problem solving skills in a cross-cultural environment. |
| Preferred Qualifications: |
One-year certificate in Applied Business Technology, or equivalent, from an appropriately accredited institution. Course such as Customer Service Skills, Cross Cultural Awareness. Proficiency in a language other than English. |
