Reporting to the Manager, Donor Relations coordinate and process over 800 donor funded scholarships, awards and bursaries and 275 endowment funds. Initiate and finalize award criteria with donors, record pledges, send gift reminders, receive and process gifts. Enter data and create reports, communicate with donors and prepare monthly updates. Liaise and work closely with VIU Financial Aid and Awards office and the Advancement and Alumni Office Data Coordinator to implement and provide accurate reports and continue to develop efficiencies in the awards management system to meet the institutions growing Awards Program.
Respond to diverse internal and external inquires regarding awards and endowments. Excellent donor stewardship, communications and customer service is a priority. Maintain an award database, electronic, and hard copy files to include contracts, historical information, disbursement reports and donor communication.
One-year Applied Business Technology certificate, or equivalent, from an appropriately accredited institution. Three to five years directly related experience, including work in a complex database. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality, work well with others, handle pressure and manage multiple tasks. High level of accuracy and attention to detail, productivity and initiative. Intermediate-level MS Office skills, 45 wpm typing speed.
Experience in a fundraising or advanced education environment. Accounting experience or knowledge of the SRS system, FRS system. Experience with Raiser's Edge. A valid Class 5 Driver's Licence and have a confirmed satisfactory driving record (as specified in Vancouver Island University policy and procedures).|
