The International Admissions department is undergoing organizational changes. There will be a total of three Admissions Officers supporting the growth of international student enrolment at Vancouver Island University.|
Reporting to the Manager, International Admissions, analyze and evaluate international student applications and supporting documents. Assess international education documents, both secondary and post-secondary, to determine equivalencies and admission eligibility of students to university programs.
Maintain accurate student records, track applicant progression through the admissions process and provide statistical reporting. Produce a wide variety of reports and letters.
Act as a liaison with faculty, departments, students, parents, agents, counselors, immigration officials and other public agencies. Provide accurate and timely information to a large volume of inquiries from applicants and international representatives.
Two-year diploma from an appropriately accredited institution. Three to five years recent relevant experience; including experience in a multicultural and/or international setting. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Must be able to work independently, set priorities and handle multiple competing tasks. Proven strong interpersonal skills. Strong oral and written English language skills. Demonstrated sensitivity to cross-cultural groups and empathy for clients whose first language is not English. Demonstrated customer service skills. MS Office proficiency and demonstrated understanding of relational databases. Training or experience to demonstrate an understanding of student financial records.
Bachelor's degree from an appropriately accredited institution. One year in a post-secondary admissions office.|
