Teach within the Earth Sciences Department and engage students in research projects. Course taught may include the following courses:
100-level: Introductory Physical Geology
200-level: Sedimentology and Stratigraphy, Geological Field Methods
300/400 level: Hydrogeology, Geochemistry, Quaternary Geology, Climate Change, Environmental Geology
Candidates must demonstrate commitment to teaching, learning and student success through scholarship and institutional service. Successful candidates will participate in a wide range of activities outside the classroom, including student support; institutional, faculty and departmental committee meetings and other initiatives; and professional activities in keeping with their disciplines in and outside the institution.
Master of Science in a related field from an appropriately accredited institution. Ability to take students into the field. Demonstrable knowledge and/or experience in a range of Earth Sciences fields, particularly in areas related to Environmental Geoscience.|
PhD in a related field. Registered, or eligible for registration, as a Professional Geoscientist (P.Geo) with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of BC (APEGBC). A valid Class 4 BC Driver's Licence and have a confirmed satisfactory driving record (as specified in Vancouver Island University policy and procedures).|
