Teach SCSW 150, an introduction to the basic concepts of health and wellness for supporting people with disabilities across the lifespan as well as strategies for support workers' health and wellness. Topics include nutrition, hygiene, medication dispensing, seizures, allergies, diabetes, exposure to physical care supports, and developing strategies for maintaining own wellness.
Prepare and deliver classes, design and grade student assignments and tests, and facilitate student integration of theory and practice. Participate in program and faculty meetings, liaise with support staff, other staff and faculty. Vancouver Island University places an emphasis on teaching excellence and also encourages scholarly activity and community involvement.

Candidates must demonstrate commitment to teaching, learning and student success through scholarship and institutional service. Successful candidates will participate in a wide range of activities outside the classroom, including student support; institutional, faculty and departmental committee meetings and other initiatives; and professional activities in keeping with their disciplines in and outside the institution.
A Master's degree in the health care field such as nursing or other allied health care disciplines (e.g., Physiotherapy or Occupational Therapy) or a Master's degree in human services (e.g., social work or educational psychology). Experience in supporting persons with disabilities possessing health care needs. Degrees must be from an appropriately accredited institution. Nurses must possess CRNBC membership and be in good standing. Must be flexible and able to relate to a diverse student population. Candidates must demonstrate commitment to teaching, learning and student success through ongoing professional training, subject currency and institutional service. Lesser qualified applicants may be considered if they demonstrate significant background assisting people with disabilities.|
Adult education experience and demonstrated teaching effectiveness or a combination of directly related education and experience. Demonstrated background working with populations that have disabilities across the lifespan.|
