As a dynamic, practice-based faculty member, contribute to an Employment Skills Access Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC) program. Courses will be taught in a two week block format. Courses to be offered are: ECEC 150, ECEC 120 and ECEC 130.
Develop, prepare, and deliver first year diploma courses; design and assess student assignments and exams; and facilitate and assess students' integration of theory and practice, through classroom and lab instruction. VIU emphasizes teaching excellence while also encouraging scholarly activity and community partnerships.
Candidates must demonstrate commitment to teaching, learning and student success through scholarship and institutional service. Successful candidates will participate in a wide range of activities outside the classroom, including student support; institutional, faculty and departmental committee meetings and other initiatives; and professional activities in keeping with their disciplines in and outside the institution.|
Master's Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field from an appropriately accredited institution. Experience in the field of Early Childhood Education and post-secondary teaching with the ability to meet the needs of diverse students. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and proficiency with the application and integration information technology. Applicants must have expertise, and familiarity with the following areas: interpersonal relations, child guidance, and health, safety, and nutrition for childcare settings. Current membership in the Early Childhood Educations of British Columbia (ECEBS) and/or other childcare association. Successful candidate(s) will be responsive to diverse and academic backgrounds and learning styles.|
