It is with pleasure that I welcome you on behalf of our Nation to Snuneymuxw Traditional Territory.
We describe ourselves as a People tied to our lands and waters, which are the areas known as Nanaimo Estuary, Nanaimo River, Departure Bay, Newcastle Island, Piper’s Lagoon, and Gabriola Island.
In choosing to come here, you follow a long tradition where people have come from afar to help make Snuneymuxw a flourishing cultural and economic centre, a meeting place for the sharing of resources and ideas.
We praise each and every one of you for taking the initiative to come here from your own Homelands to pursue your educational goals and dreams. There is much to offer here for everybody and we wish you the very best as you pursue a course that brings you happiness and a good life.
