ABT Online Exam Invigilation (Supervision)

Important Note:  All exam invigilators MUST be pre-approved by the course instructor. Whether you book your exam at Vancouver Island University or another post secondary institution, your instructor will need to send important instructions to the exam invigilator (supervisor) before the exam.  You must provide the following information to your instructor prior to the date of the exam:

•          Name, title, and contact information of exam invigilator (supervisor)
•          Date and time of exam

If you reside near the Nanaimo VIU Campus

If you have a VIU instructor for your course and you can come to VIU’s Nanaimo campus to write the exam, contact that instructor directly to confirm the date and time of the exam.

If you cannot come to the Nanaimo campus to write your exam with your VIU instructor as indicated above or if you are taking a course from an instructor who is not a VIU instructor, you will need to book your exam through the ABT Faculty Office. Exams are written most Wednesday afternoons starting promptly at 2:00 p.m. Any dates or times other than Wednesday afternoon must be made directly with the program chair by calling 250-740-6128.

To book your exam on Wednesday afternoon, email abtonline@viu.ca indicating with the following information:

  1. Your full name
  2. Your student number
  3. The name of the course
  4. Your instructor's name
  5. When the course ends

You will receive a confirming email with further instructions.

Instructions if you reside near the Cowichan or Powell River VIU Campus

If you reside near the Cowichan or Powell River campus, contact the Student Services office nearest you and ask to book an appointment to have your exam invigilated (supervised):

  • Cowichan VIU Campus Student Services 250-746-3509

Instructions if you do not reside near a VIU Campus

If you do not reside near a VIU campus or cannot easily commute to one of the above VIU campuses on exam day, contact the Student Services office of a local post-secondary institution near you to book your exam and follow the instructions at the top of this page. Remember, your instructor must approval all arrangements you have made and the invigilator.
