Program Overview

This program provides thorough, in-depth training in the skills required by today’s office workers in order to be competitive in the job market.

The Applied Business Technology Program offers the following certificate programs:

Current computer software applications are stressed, as well as the traditional skills and knowledge of business English, business calculations, office procedures, customer relations, and strong keyboarding skills.

All students start with learning basic office skills and then take specialized courses, depending on the program they are taking. To receive an ABT certificate, students must pass all courses and maintain a minimum “C” grade average in both Levels I and II of the program.

This program is designed to help you:

  • acquire the knowledge and skills for entry-level office positions
  • upgrade your existing technology skills
  • attain your goals of entering the workforce
  • meet your schedule as a full or part-time learner
  • earn a certificate at a local college.

Most courses start every month; others have four intakes a year. All courses are led by a college instructor. You will need a computer with Internet access. If you don't have a computer, check in your community at your local library, learning centre, or college.

All courses are subject to enrolment. A low enrolment may be cause for cancelling a particular course. Every effort will be made to register students in the next available course.
