Here is the information regarding the prerequisite GEOG 328 equivalent course (it's NOT the actual GEOG 328 course, but an accepted equivalent):

  1. Student must apply to the ADGISA program first.
  2. If an applicant doesn't have an introductory GIS course equivalent to GEOG 328, but meets all other admission requirements, the applicant is given a 'conditional acceptance' – conditional upon successfully completing an introductory GIS course.
  3. Student can then enroll in the completely online CMES001 ESRI Introduction course, this can be done via tel 1-866-734-6252 (or 250-740-6160 in Nanaimo).
  4. Cost is 250CAD
  5. Key code and CD will be sent by mail from Vancouver Island University to the student's mailing address once they have registered and paid for the CMES 001 course.
  6. Once course is completed, student needs to provide print-out of ESRI certificate that is generated in ESRI web site to Vancouver Island University. This certificate can be sent by mail to:

  7. This introductory course is designed to introduce you to GIS – it involves about 20 to 25 hours of work, and can be completed at your own pace.
