Vancouver Island University offers the following services to help students enhance academic success and identify a clearer educational or career direction:

  • Counselling Services (Building 200)  To discuss your  personal situation or educational challenges, make an appointment with a Vancouver Island University counsellor (250-740-6416).

  • Advising (Building 200) For academic advice regarding your program, clarification of VIU’s policies, and for matching your program to long-term goals (250-740-6410).

  • Students in degree programs may want to contact a degree advisor to facilitate appropriate planning for program completion.

  • First Nations Student Support (Building 200) Direct support for First Nations' Students (250-740-6416).

  • The Writing Centre (Building 345, Room 109)  For assistance with essay, term paper writing, and other writing assignments call Local 2115 (250-753-3245).

  • Math Learning Centre  (Building 360, Room 303)  For assistance with math-related problems you may be having in science, business, vocational, and math courses.

  • Adult Basic Education (Building 205)  For assistance with academic basics, including preparation for assessments (250-740-6425).

  • Library (Building 305)   For orientation to library research, consult the Reference Librarian on duty.

  • Campus Career Centre (Building 310) For assistance in determining your career goal, drop in or make an appointment (250-740-6420).

  • Disability Services (Building 200) For those with documented disabilities and requiring some accommodation, make an appointment (250-740-6416).
