Nursing Alumni Reunion - June 3 & 4, 2006

The Nursing Alumni Reunion was a great celebration of over 18 years of Nursing Diploma and Bachelor of Science in Nursing graduates. We started the Reunion with a special message from Vancouver Island University own First Nations Elder Ellen White. She set the tone of the day with some welcoming words and prayer.
Throughout the day alumni, former faculty and current faculty had a chance to participate in the workshops ‘Staying New' and Global Village'. Both workshops presented ideas for working aboard and keeping healthy and current in the Nursing Profession.
We ended the Saturday with an inspiring speech by Rob Calnan, a former faculty member who has won numerous awards for his outstanding work within the Nursing Profession.
In addition we raised $ 545 dollars towards a one time Nursing Alumni Student Bursary for a current Nursing student. Thanks to all of those people who bid on the Silent Auction Items.
The whole weekend of events wrapped up on Sunday with the Family BBQ and Balloon Twisting for the kids.
Overall the Reunion Planning Committee is pleased that we have a strong group of alumni, former faculty and current faculty to build future alumni activities. Stay tuned for more information about future events.
