Alumni Office Update
Hello from the Development & Alumni Relations Office
With the leaves starting to turn colours and the influx of new and returning students to campus the Development & Alumni Relations Office is full of actvity. Be sure to send us your comments and story ideas for future editions of the Alumni E-Newsletter.
Aboriginal/First Nations Alumni Chapter
This past September saw the first meeting of the First Nations/Aboriginal Alumni Chapter. A working group of alumni have a goal to develop a strong and vibrant Aboriginal Alumni Chapter that can lend support to existing First Nations Students as well raise the profile of Aboriginal alumni in the community. Plans for the future include recruiting more members to the working group and planning for a larger event to coincide with the First Nations Studies Year End Celebration in April 2007. If you would like more information please contact the Development & Alumni Relations Office or Services for Aboriginal Students.

Alumni 101
One of the things that we (and our colleagues) often hear from people is “I didn’t know I was a Malaspina Alumni!” For those of you who are not sure if you are an Alumni we’ve put together this ‘cheat sheet’ to help you:
I completed a certificate, diploma or degree from:
- Vocational Training School, Nanaimo (1936 – 1971)
- Malaspina College, all campuses (1969 – 1989)
- Malaspina University-College, all campuses (1989 - 2008)
- Vancouver Island University (2008 - current)
I completed a university transfer program and feel strongly about Malaspina/VIU.
If any of the above applies to you, then you are an Alumni!
