Part II Benefits (Travel, Living Out, Daycare and Disability Allowances) & Part I Benefits (EI)
APRIL 2, 2012 - Changes to the process of applying for Financial Assistance - must apply 4 weeks prior to the start date of class or your application may be denied.
You must apply for Part II (travel, living out, daycare and disability allowances) before you apply for EI. Applying for Part II Benefits will trigger an email to be sent to you by the Ministry of Social Development with a reference code (before the reference code was supplied by the institution) and then you can apply for EI. If you only apply for EI (Part I Benefits) you may find that you are not entitled to any EI benefits. It is very important to follow the steps to ensuring you collect EI if you are indeed eligible. The new Apprentice Online Application Portal will be available February 6, 2012 for applying for Part II Benefits. The link to the Apprentice Online Portal can be found here. Please note that this link is only to be used for if you are starting your program after APRIL 2, 2012 http://www.apprenticeonline.gov.bc.ca/UnsecuredForms/HomePage.aspx
