Nanaimo Art Gallery
Conceived by Art Department faculty, the Nanaimo Art Gallery, located adjacent the Art building, is an important feature of VIU’s Art offerings. The gallery is a public class A exhibition site and serves as an important support role in Art programming. While the NAG is operated by a society, the curator is a member of the Visual Arts faculty. The gallery is the main venue for annual student exhibits and the biannual faculty show. Students from Visual and Applied Arts, Liberal Studies, Education, Digital Media Technology, International Education, and other university areas, as well as the general community, interact with exhibitors and artists. Catalogues, essays, and monographs are published and augment the educational experience of our exhibitions.
