GED is scheduled for Nanaimo Campus, Vancouver Island University, on the following dates:

*These sessions are also open to GED candidates requiring Exam Accommodation.Please pick up and complete the Exam Accommodation/Special Needs Form from the GED website or from Student Services at Nanaimo Campus at least 6weeks prior to application deadline.
*Powell River campus of Vancouver Island University may also have GED sittings on these dates.
- Applications to write GED tests are available at www.bced.gov.bc.ca/ged
- GED Application fee is $60.00.
- The completed Application and Fee must be submitted to the Ministry of Education in Victoria prior to the application deadline. Late applications are not accepted. If your application is received after the deadline, you will be automatically scheduled for the next GED testing date..

- To help you prepare, GED text books are available to purchase from the Vancouver Island University Bookstore for approximately $20.00 plus GST, or can be borrowed from the Vancouver Island University Library or a Vancouver Island Regional Library branch.
- The Learning Centre, located in Building 205, Room 106 (Nanaimo Campus), is available to help you prepare for the assessment. Call 250 740 6425 to confirm hours of operation.
- GED is held in the Building 200, Student Services Building, Nanaimo Campus.
- Pay Parking is in effect at Vancouver Island University 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
- In order to write the GED exam, applicants must bring ONE of the following pieces of ID: valid driver’s licence, valid passport, or another I.D. card that has photo, signature, date of birth and residency.
- Paper, pens and pencils are supplied at the test site. Calculators are provided for Math Part I. Calculators are not permitted for Math Part II.
- Bring a snack to eat in the break between tests.
- Results are mailed to you approximately 3 weeks after the test date.
- The passing score is 450/800 on each GED sub-test.

The request should include:
- Candidate’s name at the time of writing
- Mailing address, telephone number, S.I.N., Birthdate
- When and where the tests were written
- Where the results are to be mailed
There is a charge of $10.00 for the first copy of the Transcript of Marks and $5.00 for each additional copy ordered at the same time. Each additional GED Certificate costs $10.00.
Cheques or money orders should be made payable to the Minister of Finance. They DO NOT accept post-dated cheques.
