Mission:
We strive to provide a welcoming, technologically advanced testing environment which promotes satisfaction and achievement in reaching academic and professional goals.
Assessment Services:
- provide entrance testing for selected programs in Trades & Applied Technology, Health and Human Services to help ensure prospective students are academically successful.
- help place prospective Adult Basic Education students in appropriate upgrading.
- provide a professional test centre for VIU students and staff and the surrounding community by administering exams from distance courses, government agencies and professional organizations.
We subscribe to the National College Testing Association Professional Standards and Guideline for Post-Seconcary Test Centres.
All assessment services are available at the Nanaimo, Cowichan and Powell River campuses. The Parksville Centre provides placement testing only for their Career and Academic Preparation courses and NIDES exams.

To help you prepare for the assessment the following Learning Centres are available:
Nanaimo Learning Centre, Building 205, Room 106. The Centre is generally open Mon - Fri 9:30 - 1:30. Call 250-740-6425 to confirm the Centre's hours of operation.
Cowichan Campus Learning Centre, Building 601. Call 250-746-3509 to schedule an appointment.
Powell River Campus Learning Centre. Call 604-485-2878 to confirm hours of operation.
