Keyboard Testing at Nanaimo Campus

  • Keyboard testing is also offered at Cowichan and Powell River campuses. Please call the campus nearest you for their keyboard details.
  • Effective June 1, 2011, keyboard testing is available for Centre for Continuing Studies students for $15.00 and for community members for $30.00. Fees payable at time of testing.

  • Timed 5-minute intervals; however, students have more than one chance to make the required nwpm (net words/minute) within the time frame.
  • two spaces after every period
  • BACKSPACE button is not available
  • hit TAB to begin each paragraph and ENTER when at end of paragraph
  • text wrap is ON
  • type from text not screen
  • two words deducted per error
  • 5 errors per 5-minute timing is standard business practice

Approximate Time:  1 1/2 Hours

 

A letter indicating net words per minute and a copy of your keyboarding printout are provided at the end of the testing session.
