Chair's Welcome - Welcome to VIU

When I talk to students, meet with alumni, or discuss academic activities with faculty I am amazed at the significant impact and effect of our young university.  Equally, I am confident that your decision to be part of the Vancouver Island University will be well rewarded for many years after your time here.

On behalf of the Board of Governors I want to assure you that VIU will make every effort to provide you with an excellent educational experience that will make you proud to have chosen VIU for your post-secondary endeavors.

At VIU we are very fortunate to be able to provide students with small class sizes that encourage close communication with faculty and students.  I believe the result is a well-balanced education that enables students to excel at meeting their academic goals.

In addition, VIU offers the unique opportunity to live on Canada’s West Coast, one of the most desirable places in the world to live, and to enjoy the many unique opportunities for leisure and a healthy lifestyle that our world-class campuses offer.

As you read this, you can probably look out at the wonderful scenery and observe a multitude of students from all over Canada and the world who have also chosen VIU for their education.  I invite you to make every effort to get to know all that you can about this remarkable VIU family and the unlimited opportunities and challenges it offers you.
