University and Career/Technical Programs 2005

14 April (Thursday): Last day to pay for both the 14-week session and the first 7-week session of Summer Session.
2 May (Monday): First day of Summer Session classes. First day of both the 14-week session and the first 7-week session.
3 May (Tuesday): Last day of active wait list for the first 7-week session of Summer Session classes.
6 May (Friday): Last day of active wait list for the 14-week session of Summer Session classes.
19 May (Thursday): Last day to pay for the second 7-week session of Summer Session classes.
23 May (Monday): Victoria Day; University closed.
27 May (Friday): Last day for academic penalty-free withdrawal from the first 7-week session of Summer Session Classes.
7 June (Tuesday): Convocation Ceremony of Bachelor’s degrees.
17 June (Friday): Last day of the first 7-week Summer Session classes.
20 June (Monday): First day of the second 7 week set of Summer Session classes.
21 June (Tuesday): Last day of active wait list for the second 7-week session of Summer Session classes.
24 June (Friday): Final grades due for the first 7 week Summer Session by 4 pm.
24 June (Friday): Last day for academic penalty-free withdrawal from the 14-week session of Summer Session classes.
1 July (Friday): Canada Day; University closed.
15 July (Friday): Last day for academic penalty-free withdrawal from the second 7-week session of Summer Session classes.
15 July (Thursday): Recommended deadline to submit Student Loan Application to the Ministry of Advanced Education to ensure receipt of funds by the first day of Fall semester classes.
29 July (Friday): $200 tuition deposit due for University Programs. Failure to pay the deposit will result in de-registration.
1 August (Monday): BC Day; University closed.
5 August (Friday): Last day of all Summer Session classes.
12 August (Friday): Final grades due for all Summer Session by 4 pm.
1 September (Thursday): Orientation for new first-year University Program students at the Nanaimo campus.
5 September (Monday): Labour Day; University closed.
6 September (Tuesday): First day of classes for Fall semester.
13 September (Tuesday): Last day of active wait-list. After this date, courses may be dropped, over the web or in person, and may be added in person using the Request For Late Course Registration Form.
19 September (Monday): Last day to add / drop a course before Fall tuition is calculated.
20 September (Tuesday): Tuition calculated. Students in University and Career/Technical Programs will be billed for all courses enrolled in as of this date.
23 September (Friday): Last day to apply to graduate with a Bachelor’s degree in Fall 2005.
3 October (Monday): Last day to pay Fall semester tuition. Any tuition unpaid as of October 4, will be assessed a 10% late fee.
10 October (Monday): Thanksgiving Day; University closed.
14 October (Friday): Last day to apply for BC Student Assistance (student loan) for students attending Fall semester only.
31 October (Monday): Last day for academic penalty-free withdrawal from a Fall Semester course or program or to change from credit to audit (or vice-versa) in University and Career/Technical Programs.
31 October (Monday): Last day for overdue tuition for Fall semester to be paid to avoid withdrawal from Fall and Spring semester courses.
1 November (Tuesday): Students with fees owing as of this date will be removed from all Fall and Spring courses.
11 November (Friday): Remembrance Day; University closed.
15 November (Tuesday): First day to submit applications for University and Career/Technical Programs beginning September 2006.
25 November (Friday): Last day to apply to graduate with a Bachelor’s degree in Spring 2006.
5 December (Monday): Last day of classes for University and Career/Technical Programs.
6 December – 7 December (Tuesday – Wednesday): Final examination study days for University and Career/Technical Programs.
8 December (Thursday): First day of final examinations.
16 December (Friday): Convocation Ceremony for Bachelor’s degrees.
19 December (Monday): Last day of final examinations.
28 December (Wednesday): Final Fall semester grades due by 4:00 pm.
24 December – 2 January (Saturday – Monday): Christmas / New Year break.

Vocational/Trades Programs 2005

Note: Tuition fees are due in full prior to the commencement of all Vocational/Trades Programs. Withdrawal from a program must be done by the end of the 8th week of classes to avoid academic penalty.

1 July (Friday): Canada Day; University closed.

3 January (Tuesday): First day of classes for Spring semester.
10 January (Tuesday): Last day of active wait-list. After this date, courses may be dropped over the web or in person, and may be added in person using the Request For Late Course Registration Form.
16 January (Monday): Last day to add / drop a course before Spring semester tuition calculated.
17 January (Tuesday): Tuition calculated. Students in University and Career/Technical Programs will be billed for all courses enrolled in as of this date.
1 February (Wednesday): Last day to pay Spring semester tuition. Tuition unpaid as of February 2 will be assessed a 10% late payment fee.
17 February (Friday): Last day to apply for BC Student Assistance (student loan) for students with April end date for the current academic year.
24 February (Friday): Last day for academic penalty-free withdrawal from full-year courses.
20 February – 24 February (Monday – Friday): Study Days for University and Career/Technical Programs.
27 February (Monday): Last day for academic penalty-free withdrawal from a Spring Semester course or program or to change from credit to audit (or vice-versa) in University and Career/Technical Programs.
28 February (Tuesday): Application deadline for the following programs: Teacher Education, Nursing-Generic Baccalaureate degree, Child & Youth Care diploma and degree.
