2007

University and Career/Technical Programs 2007

8 January (Monday): First day of classes for Spring semester.
15 January (Monday): Last day of active wait-list. After this date, courses may be dropped over the web or in person, and may be added in person using the Request For Late Course Registration Form.
19 January (Friday): Last day to add / drop a course before Spring semester tuition calculated.
22 January (Monday): Tuition calculated. Students in University and Career/Technical Programs will be billed for all courses enrolled in as of this date.
1 February (Thursday): First day to submit applications for University programs for Summer Session courses.
1 February (Thursday): Last day to pay Spring semester tuition. Tuition unpaid as of February 2 will be assessed a 10% late payment fee.
16 February (Friday): Last day to apply for BC Student Assistance (student loan) for students with April end date for the current academic year.
23 February (Friday): Last day for academic penalty-free withdrawal from full-year courses.
26 February – 2 March (Monday – Friday): Study Days for University and Career/Technical Programs.
28 February (Wednesday): Application deadline for the following programs: Teacher Education, Nursing-Generic Baccalaureate degree, Child & Youth Care diploma and degree.
28 February (Wednesday): Last day for overdue tuition for Spring Semester to be paid to avoid withdrawal from Spring Semester courses.
1 March (Thursday): Students with fees owing will be withdrawn from all Spring semester classes.
2 March (Friday): Last day for academic penalty-free withdrawal from a Spring Semester course or program or to change from credit to audit (or vice-versa) in University and Career/Technical Programs.
30 March (Friday): Application deadline for University and Career/Technical Programs beginning September 2007. Applications received after this date will be processed as time and space allow.
6 April / 9 April (Friday / Monday): Good Friday / Easter Monday; University closed.
13 April (Friday): Last day of classes for University and Career/Technical Programs.
16 April – 17 April (Monday – Tuesday): Final examination study days for University and Career/Technical Programs.
18 April (Wednesday): First day of final examinations.
19 April (Thursday): Last day to pay Summer Session tuition. Failure to pay the deposit will result in de-registration.
27 April (Friday): Last day of final examinations.
4 May (Friday): Final Spring semester grades due by 4 pm.
7 May (Monday): First day of Summer Session classes. First day of both the 14-week session and the first 7-week session.
8 May (Tuesday): Last day of active wait list for the first 7-week session of Summer Session classes.
11 May (Friday): Last day of active wait list for the 14-week session of Summer Session classes.
21 May (Monday): Victoria Day; University closed.
1 June (Friday): Last day for academic penalty-free withdrawal from the first 7-week session of Summer Session Classes.
4 June – 5 June (Monday – Tuesday): Convocation Ceremonies for Bachelor’s degrees.
22 June (Friday): Last day of the first 7-week Summer Session classes.
25 June (Monday): First day of the second 7 week set of Summer Session classes.
26 June (Tuesday): Last day of active wait list for the second 7-week session of Summer Session classes.
29 June (Friday): Final grades due for the first 7 week Summer Session by 4 pm.
29 June (Friday): Last day for academic penalty-free withdrawal from the 14-week session of Summer Session classes.
2 July (Monday): Canada Day observed; University closed.
13 July (Friday): Recommended deadline to submit Student Loan Application to the Ministry of Advanced Education to ensure receipt of funds by the first day of Fall semester classes.
20 July (Friday): Last day for academic penalty-free withdrawal from the second 7-week session of Summer Session classes.
31 July (Tuesday): $200 tuition deposit due for University Programs.  Failure to pay the deposit will result in de-registration.
6 August (Monday): BC Day; University closed.
10 August (Friday): Last day of all Summer Session classes.
17 August (Friday): Final grades due for all Summer Session by 4 pm.
30 August (Thursday): Orientation for new first-year University Program students at the Nanaimo campus.
3 September (Monday): Labour Day; University closed.
4 September (Tuesday): First day of classes for Fall semester.

1 October (Monday): Last day to pay Fall semester tuition. Any tuition unpaid as of October 2, will be assessed a 10% late fee.
8 October (Monday): Thanksgiving Day; University closed.
12 October (Friday): Last day to apply for BC Student Assistance (student loan) for students attending Fall semester only.
29 October (Monday): Last day for academic penalty-free withdrawal from a Fall Semester course or program or to change from credit to audit (or vice-versa) in University and Career/Technical Programs.
31 October (Wednesday): Last day for overdue tuition for Fall semester to be paid to avoid withdrawal from Fall and Spring semester courses.
1 November (Thursday): Students with fees owing as of this date will be removed from all Fall and Spring courses.
12 November (Monday): Remembrance Day observed; University closed.
15 November (Thursday): First day to submit applications for University and Career/Technical Programs beginning September 2008.
23 November (Friday): Last day to apply to graduate with a Bachelor’s degree in Spring 2008.
3 December(Monday): Last day of classes for University and Career/Technical Programs.
4 December – 5 December(Tuesday – Wednesday): Final examination study days for University and Career/Technical Programs.
6 December (Thursday): First day of final examinations.
14 December (Friday): Convocation Ceremony for Bachelor’s degrees.
17 December (Monday): Last day of final examinations.
24 December (Monday): Final Fall semester grades due by 4:00 pm.
25 December – 1 January (Tuesday –Tuesday): Christmas / New Year break.

Vocational/Trades Programs 2007

Note: Tuition fees are due in full prior to the commencement of all Vocational/Trades Programs. Withdrawal from a program must be done by the end of the 8th week of classes to avoid academic penalty.

2 January (Tuesday): First day back for most Vocational/Trades Programs.
16 February (Friday): Last day to apply for BC Student Assistance (student loan) for students with April end date for the current academic year.
30 March (Friday): Application deadline for Vocational/Trades Programs beginning September 2007. Applications received after this date will be processed as time and space allow.
