January 2009
1 Thursday New Years Day: University closed.
5 Monday First day of classes for Spring semester.
12 Monday Last day of active wait-list.  After this date, courses may be dropped over the web or in person, and may be added in person using the Request For Late Course Registration Form.
16 Friday Last day to add / drop a course before Spring semester tuition calculated.
19 Monday Tuition calculated. Students in University and Career/Technical Programs will be billed for all courses enrolled in as of this date.
February 2009
2 Monday Last day to pay Spring semester tuition. Tuition unpaid as of February 3 will be assessed a 10% late payment fee.
6 Friday Last day to apply to graduate with a Bachelor or Master degree in Spring 2009.
13 Friday Last day to apply for BC Student Assistance (student loan) for students with April end date for the current academic year.
23-27 Mon-Fri Study Days for University and Career/Technical Programs.
27 Friday Last day for academic penalty-free withdrawal from a Spring Semester course or program or to change from credit to audit (or vice-versa) in University and Career/Technical Programs.
27 Friday Last day for academic penalty-free withdrawal from full-year courses.
27 Friday Application deadline for the following programs: Teacher Education, Nursing-Generic Baccalaureate degree, Child & Youth Care diploma and degree.
27 Friday Last day for overdue tuition for Spring Semester to be paid to avoid withdrawal from Spring Semester courses.
March 2009
2 Monday Students with fees owing will be withdrawn from all Spring semester classes.
31 Tuesday Application deadline for University and Career/Technical & Trades/Vocational Programs beginning September 2009.  Applications received after this date will be processed as time and space allow.
April 2009
3 Friday Last day of classes for University and Career/Technical Programs.
6 Mon-Tues Final examination study days for University and Career/Technical Programs.
8 Wednesday First day of final examinations.
10/13 Fri/Mon Good Friday / Easter Monday; University closed.
21 Tuesday Last day of final examinations.
28 Tuesday Final Spring semester grades due.
May 2009
4 Monday First day of the first 7–week Summer Session classes.
18 Monday Victoria Day; University closed.
June 2009
1-2 Mon-Tues Convocation Ceremonies for Bachelor and Master degrees.
19 Friday Last day of the first 7–week Summer Session classes.
22 Monday First day of the second 7–week set of Summer Session classes.
23 Tuesday Last day of active wait–list for the second 7–week session of Summer Session classes.
26 Friday Final grades due for the first 7–week Summer Session.
26 Friday Last day for academic penalty–free withdrawal from the 14–week session of Summer Session classes.
30 Tuesday $200 tuition deposit due for University Programs. Failure to pay the deposit will result in deregistration.
July 2009
1 Wednesday Canada Day; University closed.
17 Friday Last day for academic penalty–free withdrawal from the second 7–week session of Summer Session classes.
31 Friday Recommended deadline to submit Student Loan Application to the Ministry of Advanced Education to ensure receipt of funds by the first day of Fall semester classes.
August 2009
3 Monday BC Day; University closed.
7 Friday Last day of all Summer Session classes.
14 Friday Final grades due for all Summer Session courses.
September 2009
3 Thursday Orientation for new first–year University program students at the Nanaimo campus.
7 Monday Labour Day; University closed.
8 Tuesday First day of classes for Fall semester.
15 Tuesday Last day of active wait–list. After this date courses may be dropped over the web or in person, and may only be added in person using the Request For Late Course Registration from.
21 Monday Last day to add/drop a course before Fall tuition is calculated.

November 2009
2 Monday Students with fees owing as of this date will be removed from all Fall and Spring courses.
2 Monday Last day for academic penalty–free withdrawal from all Fall semester course, or program, or to change from credit to audit (or vice–versa) in University and Career/Technical programs.
11 Wednesday Remembrance Day; University closed.
15 Sunday First day to submit applications for University and Career/Technical programs beginning September 2010.
December 2009
7 Monday Last day of classes for University and Career/Technical programs.
