CPTY 110T Residential Construction Career Exploration

Exploration of residential framing, carpentry, electrical, and plumbing trades. CPTY 110T was formerly called CAFT 110T; credit will not be granted for both courses.

Prerequisite: Admission to program.

CPTY 112T Construction Math

Theory and practice in math calculations related to the carpentry trade; fractions, decimals, metric/imperial, percentages, area and volume, ratios/proportions, and board measure calculations. CPTY 112T was formerly called CARP 121T, CAFT 112T; credit will not be granted for both courses.

CPTY 114T Safe Work Practices

Theory and practice in identifying and using applicable shop and job site safety procedures. CPTY 114T was formerly called CARP 115T, CAFT 114T; credit will not be granted for both courses.

CPTY 116T Drawings and Specifications

Theory and practice in reading drawings and specifications related to carpentry trade. CPTY 116T was formerly called CAFT 116T; credit will not be granted for both courses.

Theory and practice in identifying shop and construction building materials related to carpentry trade. CPTY 118T was formerly called CAFT 118T; credit will not be granted for both courses.

Theory and practice in identifying, maintaining, and using carpentry related hand tools. CPTY 120T was formerly called CARP 116T, CAFT 120T; credit will not be granted for both courses.

Theory and practice in identifying, maintaining, and using carpentry related portable power tools. CPTY 122T was formerly called CARP 117T, CAFT 122T; credit will not be granted for both courses.

Theory and practice in recording and transferring elevations, optical levels, transits, theodolites and electronic instruments. CPTY 126T was formerly called CAFT 126T; credit will not be granted for both courses.

CPTY 128T Concrete Form Work

Theory and practice in identifying concrete properties, additives and building concrete formwork; building footings and wall forms; slab-on-grade; installing formwork for columns. CPTY 128T was formerly called CARP 155T, CAFT 128T; credit will not be granted for both courses.

CPTY 130T Shop Skills I

Practical use of shop tools and equipment in construction/development of ongoing shop projects such as: sawhorse, toolbox drawing and toolbox. CPTY 130T was formerly called CARP 110T, CAFT 130T; credit will not be granted for both courses.

CPTY 132T Residential House Framing

Theory and practice in describing types of wood frame construction, building foundations, floors, walls, partitions, gable and hip roofs, straight and circular stairs, back framing included in walls, stairs and roofs, and installing pre-fabricated trusses. CPTY 132T was formerly called CAFT 132T; credit will not be granted for both courses.

CPTY 134T Windows and Doors

Theory and practice in identifying types of windows, and interior and exterior doors, and installing windows and doors. CPTY 134T was formerly called CAFT 134T; credit will not be granted for both courses.

CPTY 136T Residential Building Renovations

Theory and practice in installing temporary supports, dismantling building components, assessing renovation plans, and reassembling building components. CPTY 136T was formerly called CAFT 136T; credit will not be granted for both courses.

CPTY 138T Building Science

Theory of forces acting on a building such as heat and sound transfer principals, air and moisture movements in buildings, methods of controlling forces acting on a building, methods of controlling heat and sound transmission, and methods of controlling air and moisture flow. CPTY 138T was formerly called CAFT 138T; credit will not be granted for both courses.

CPTY 140T Shop Skills II

Practical examination of projects such as shop project drawings, material lists, use of hand, portable and stationary power tools, economical use of materials, efficient and productive use of time, professionally completed shop projects. CPTY 140T was formerly called CARP 150T, CAFT 140T; credit will not be granted for both courses.
