Heavy Equipment Operator Foundation

HEFD 100T Industry Orientation and Overview

A study of correct terminology, identification of machines and processes, learning about careers, applying health and safety practices, identifying environmental hazards, and applying proper handling, disposal, and protection methods.

Prerequisite: Admission to the Heavy Equipment Foundation Program.

HEFD 105T Tools, Equipment Operations, and Maintenance

A study of the correct use of tools and equipment used in the road building and heavy construction industry, identifying and classifying machines and processes, and performing checks and maintenance.

Prerequisite: Admission to the Heavy Equipment Foundation Program.

HEFD 110T Civil Engineering Principles

The study of general engineering principles related to road building and heavy construction including surveying, drainage, excavation, descriptions of soils, aggregates, asphalt, and concrete.

Prerequisite: Admission to the Heavy Equipment Foundation Program.

HEFD 115T Worksite Preparation

The study of skills related to getting a job including resume writing, job search and interview skills, and learning the value of communication and positive workplace attitudes.

Prerequisite: Admission to the Heavy Equipment Foundation program.
