Aerobic & Strength Class Descriptions for Spring 2013

Athletic Core Bootcamp

Join us for a high energy workout out in the open air. This is a fun-filled hour dedicated to functional training that will improve your everyday life. Class will focus on total body strengthening, improving agility, increasing cardiovascular fitness, and developing a stronger core. Get away from boring workouts and give your body & mind a boost. This bootcamp is for all levels of fitness. Be sure to bring water! Instructor: Veronique Rioux

Breakfast Bootcamp Boost

Start the day with this breakfast bootcamp boost. The workout will start with an athletic yoga warm up follow by an total body strengthening workout, improving agility, increasing cardiovascular fitness, and developing a stronger core. We will use a variety of equipment; balls, bosu, bands, weights, kettlebell. This bootcamp is for all levels of fitness. Be sure to bring water and to eat something before class!  Instructor: Chelsie Trinkwon

Lunchtime Bootcamp

Join us for a high energy workout out in the open air. This is a fun-filled hour dedicated to functional training that will improve your every day life. Class will focus on total body strengthening, improving agility, increasing cardiovascular fitness, and developing a stronger core. Get away from boring workouts and give your body & mind a boost. This bootcamp is for all levels of fitness. Every workout will be different using ladder, cones, hurdles, bands and more will be use.  Be sure to bring water! Instructor: Veronique Rioux

Body Blast

This Total Body Workout will incorporate cardio intervals with a variety of strength and core exercises to challenge your body and to blast the fat! Enjoy a high energy workout that gets you moving and gets the sweat on!  Instructor: Shelley Howlett

Butts and Guts

One hour totally dedicated to the strengthening and toning of the core of the body and glutes.   Equipment will be used.  This is a non cardio class but appropriate exercise footwear and clothing would be highly recommended.  Come prepared to sweat. Instructor: Veronique Rioux

Drop in Run Club

Add more fun and variety into your run and drop into the gym lobby on your lunch or at any time of day that works for you! This club is a self-run running club to help bring like minded runners together.  Choose from a selection of printed running routes and distances available-pick one and go! Do you need a running buddy and one who is at the same running level? Add your name to the Running Partner list provided and we will help bring similar running levels and time schedules together!

Drop In WalkFit

For 8 weeks starting September 24th, drop into the gym lobby on your lunch or at any time of the day and discover what the Weekly Walk route is! Go for a rejuvenating 30 minute walk and return to your studies and work energized and ready to go! This self-run WalkFit program allows you to walk a different walking route each week for 8 weeks. A Walking Partner list will be provided for you to add your name and walking availability and we will do our best to match you with a walking buddy! There might even be some additional incentives along the way…you will just have to participate to find out! See you there!

Hitt Extreme Power Punch

This is a high energy kickboxing workout that combines a serious of kickboxing combos utilizing focus pads and gloves mixed with high intensity interval training.  Hitt intervals will train speed, strength and power mostly using your own body weight as a tool to increase stamina loose body fat and increase lung capacity. No previous martial arts experience is needed; all you need is the desire to get your sweat on! (All kickboxing equipment is supplied but gloves are small women sizes gloves and shared so feel free to bring your own gloves!).  Instructor: Take Charge Fit To Go

Martial Art Mayhem Kickboxing

This is a great class to knock out routine boredom and blast fat all over with a combination of muscle sculpting kickboxing routines. Come out and release stress, while you punch and kick out all your frustrations of the day. We will incorporate proper kickboxing techniques utilizing gloves and pads, mixed with some high intensity cardio intervals. You will leave this class feeling strong and invigorated!  Instructor - Take Charge Fit To Go

Sunrise Cycle

This intense cardiovascular exercise will increase your stamina and energy though up beat music and an encouraging atmosphere all while challenging your personal best. 45 Minutes of cycling to kick start your day! All levels. Instructor: Alex Keizer  

TRX 1 & 2

We guarantee this class will be your game changer for 2013! This workout is designed around a piece of cutting edge equipment known as the TRX. The TRX uses the human body as the weight for all exercises. Keep your heart rate pumping, burn mega calories, and strengthen your body while you're rocking it out in this brand new class for VIU. The TRX class will provide you with a whole new twist on how to work out and earn the results you really want!! All levels welcome. Instructor: Over The Hurdle Athletics

Women’s Only Circuit Training

Have you ever entered the weight room of a gym only to immediately feel intimidated by Mr. Muscles beside you bench pressing four times your weight? Ever wished you could work out in comfortable surroundings without feeling pressured to perform? If you can answer yes to one or both of those questions, this class is for you. Come out, join the girls, and achieve your goals in a low pressure, high energy class! Instructor: Chelsie Trinkwon
