Fire Officer Certificate Program


The curriculum for all emergency response programs delivered through the Vancouver Island Emergency Response Academy is exciting, current and relevant to your duties as an emergency responder. Students are challenged through realistic hands-on practical scenarios and interactive classroom activities. Training delivered by the Academy meets or exceeds the relevant National Fire Protection Association Standard and is accredited by the National Board on Fire Service Professional Qualifications (Pro Board).
Fire Officer 1 Certificate Program (NFPA 1021)
This ten day 80 hour program is designed to meet the requirements of senior Firefighters that aspire to become Company Officers. Participants gain the ability and knowledge to perform the duties of a junior officer. The course is designed around classroom lectures, group interactive exercises, table exercises and practical fire ground evolutions.

Fire Officer 2 Certificate Program (NFPA 1021)
This nine day 72 hour program is designed to meet the training requirements and give the participant the ability and knowledge to perform their duties as a mid Level Company Officer. The course is designed around classroom lectures, group interactive exercises, table exercises and practical fire ground evolutions.
