Basic Marine Engineering Skills
5 Week Full Time Certificate Program
This
Transport Canada approved program complies with the intent of TP-13720E and
with recent revisions to the skills training requirement for Fourth Class
Marine Engineers as outlined by the Canadian Marine Advisory Council. The
program fulfills the skills training requirement for Fourth Class Marine Engineer
candidates.
Career Opportunities:
This is intended for Engineer candidates, providing training to fulfill the Practical Skills Training when applying for the Fourth-class Engineer certificate bearing the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW ) endorsement. It is for people already working as engine room ratings on ferries, tugs, fishing or coast guard vessels who are working towards their Fourth Class Marine engineering ticket with Transport Canada. THIS IS NOT AN ENTRY LEVEL PROGRAM
Course Delivery:
The course is delivered through face-to-face instruction, utilizing a variety of learning methods including; practical welding and machining projects, electrical wiring demonstrations, videos, written tests and assignments.
