Overview 
The curriculum delivered through the Vancouver Island Emergency Response Academy (VIERA) is exciting, current and relevant to your duties as an Emergency Responder. Students are challenged through realistic hands-on scenarios and interactive classroom activities. Training meets or exceeds the relevant National Fire Protection Association Standard and is accredited by the National Board on Fire Service Professional Qualifications (Pro Board). Vancouver Island University is proud to work with VIERA on the delivery of the following Certificates and Courses.
- Fire Service Instructor Level 1 (NFPA 1041)
- Fire Service Instructor Level 2 (NFPA 1041)
- Hazardous Materials Awareness (NFPA 472)
- Hazardous Materials Operations (NFPA 472)
- Incident Safety Officer (NFPA 1521)
- Fire Officer 1 Certificate Program (NFPA 1021)
- Fire Officer 2 Certificate Program (NFPA 1021)
- Fire Investigator (NFPA 1033)
- Fire Apparatus Driver-Operator (NFPA 1002)
