Things you should know
A one hour long appointment is normally prescheduled. If you drop-in your appointment will normally be 20 – 30 minutes so that the Counsellor will be available for other drop-ins. If appropriate, your Counsellor may decide to make the appointment longer to address immediate concerns. Typically, Counsellors meet with students a maximum of four sessions per semester. Exceptions can be made and should be discussed with the Counsellor
Cost
No fee is charged for counselling. There is a minimal fee for career testing.
Confidentiality
We take your right to privacy seriously. We will only release information about you to others with your written permission; however, there are three exceptions. These are when there are reasonable grounds to believe that:
- a person under the age of 19 needs protection from abuse
- individuals are likely to cause injury to themselves or others;
- we are ordered by a court to provide confidential information.
