New Shellfish Work Vessel

 The VIU Trades building program is building a new work boat that will service the Deep Bay Marine Field Station Research and Training Shellfish Farm.

This 39 foot catamaran aluminum workboat will have a small crane on board for servicing shellfish rafts and be used for farming, training, and research purposes.  It will be operated by staff and students and the principle design requirements are to provide a safe and stable working platform.  It’s not going to win any races or beauty contests but it is going to be highly functional.
