Research

The Marine Field Station will complement the core CSR laboratory in Nanaimo by taking its research into the real-world environment for proof-of-concept application.

The Marine Field Station will be the locus for new technology development undertaken in partnership with the shellfish farming and supply and service industry.

Examples of CSR driven technology projects currently underway include the development of

(a) a new shellfish raft prototype

(b) the design and construction of a new shellfish work vessel, and

(c) a feasibility analysis to design a new modern shellfish hatchery for the BC industry.

Examples of CSR driven research projects currently underway include:

(a)Commercialization of the Basket Cockle

The availability of meeting rooms and research and teaching laboratories and adjacent to a working shellfish research farm will be an effective way of immediately testing new concepts developed in a workshop setting, thus accelerating the creative process of innovation.
