Money Matters

There are times when the crunch hits you harder than you planned for, and you find yourself in financial difficulty. Financial Aid & Awards may be able to provide you with a short-term emergency loan to help you over the crisis. They can also provide you with information about financial assistance for government student loans, grants, institutional bursaries, and a variety of scholarships and awards.

Current Awards

BMO Financial Group/Lime Connect Canada Scholarship and Internship Program for Students with Disabilities

Students enrolled full-time in post-secondary education. Successful applicants will receive a scholarship, compete for a paid summer internship and ultimately land a job at graduation as a Financial Services Manager in BMO Financial Group's Personal and Commercial Banking Group. Comprehensive training, coaching and mentoring will all be provided to set you on the path for success. $2500. Deadline: January 31, 2012.

The Canadian Hard of Hearing Association Scholarship Program

The purpose of the Scholarship Program is to offer financial assistance and recognition to hard of hearing and deafened students registered in a full time program at a recognized college or university, in any area of study,with the ultimate goal of obtaining a diploma or degree. Three awards of $1000. Deadline: February 28, 2012.

NEADS National Student Awards and Holly Bartlett Memorial Award

The National Educational Association of Disabled Students (NEADS) is now accepting applications for the NEADS National Student Awards Program and the Holly Bartlett Memorial Award. These awards are offered to encourage full access to post-secondary education for persons with disabilities enrolled in undergraduate, graduate or professional degree programs at recognized Canadian universities, or in certified diploma programs at Canadian colleges. A minimum of seven outstanding applicants, who meet the criteria of the Student Awards Program, will be receiving an award in the amount of $3,000 to support the costs of their tuition and student fees.  One deserving applicant will receive the new Holly Bartlett Memorial Award in the amount of $1,000. Deadline: March 1, 2012.

Jericho Hill Scholarship

JHLT-VI $2000 Scholarship will be awarded annually to a graduating student who best exemplifies leadership activities and community service. The Provincial Resource Centre for the Visually Impaired (PRCVI) administers this scholarship on behalf of the JHLT. No deadline given.

  • Provincial Grants and Bursaries through Student Aid BC
  • Band - Contact First Nations Office
  • WCB -Workers Compensation Branch
  • ICBC - Insurance Corporation of British Columbia
  • HRDC-the Opportunities fund-must not be eligible for E.I.
  • Reach Back-Amber Education-must have had a valid E.I. claim in the last 3 years
  • Income Assistance-PWD, PPMB-apply through Human Resources office
