How to Apply (2012-2013) – Faculty of Education Admissions

NOTE: See Application Extension for the Bachelor of Education Year Three Program (2012-2013)--Some seats still remaining!

The completion of a Bachelor of Education at VIU prepares you to teach in British Columbia schools and our Faculty looks forward to serving your professional and educational needs. To be considered for enrollment, all applicants (including Vancouver Island University students) MUST SUBMIT:

  1. A Completed VIU Admission Application Form: A completed VIU Application Form (either in print or online at www.viu.ca/apply) is required by the institution and applications must be submitted by the program deadline of February 17, 2012 to The Registration Centre at VIU (see address below).  If applying to both the Post Baccalaureate Elementary and Post Baccalaureate Secondary programs, a separate application form must be completed for each program (only one $35.70 application fee required). The deadline for applications to our programs is February 17, 2012.

  2. Official Transcripts:  An official transcript from each post-secondary institution attended (excluding Vancouver Island University) must be submitted, including courses currently in progress.  You must contact each relevant institution to arrange for transcripts to be sent to The Registration Centre at VIU (see address below).   Unofficial copies (fax, photocopy, etc.) of transcripts are not acceptable. Official transcripts must be received by February 24, 2012.  See note below regarding courses still in progress after the admission deadline.

  3. A Completed Personal Profile Form:  Personal Profiles are required for admission into the Faculty of Education.  After applying to VIU, students can access the on-line Personal Profile Form through their student record at https://records.viu.ca/reg/htbin/weblogin.  A student number is required to gain access. If you are a new applicant to VIU, your student number will be assigned once your VIU application has been processed.  Your student number will be included in an Acknowledgement Letter issued by the Admissions Department within a few days of receiving your VIU application.  Finally, you will be permitted to save your Personal Profile and revise it at any time up to the February 24, 2012 deadline. For admission purposes, Personal Profiles are weighted 40%, with Grade Point Average (GPA) being weighted 60%.  Please note that gaining access to Personal Profile details after February 24th will not be possible.  Should you wish to keep a copy of your Personal Profile, please ensure you save a copy in your personal files.

NOTE:  All admission requirements (including the submission of official transcripts for final course work and/or prerequisite documentation) must be received by The Registration Centre at VIU (see address below) no later than May 31, 2012.  This includes the submission of final transcripts for all course work completed during the Spring 2012 semester.
