How to Apply (2013-2014):
Faculty of Education Admissions
Thank you for your interest in the Teacher Education Programs, Faculty of Education, Vancouver Island University (VIU).
The VIU Teacher Education Programs are comprised of both coursework and Field Experiences. Program designs are in line with the British Columbia Ministry of Education Teacher Regulation Branch (TRB) policies and procedures, and support the Standards for the Education, Competence and Professional Conduct of Educators in British Columbia (Standards). The VIU Teacher Education Programs meet the requirements for not only a Bachelor of Education degree, but also for recommendation for professional teacher certification in British Columbia (BC).
To be considered for enrollment, applicants (including Vancouver Island University students) MUST SUBMIT:

A Completed VIU Admission Application Form:
Canadian & Domestic/Landed Immigrant Applications
A completed VIU Admissions Application Form (either in print or online at http://www.viu.ca/apply/) is required by the institution. Applications will open on November 15, 2012. Applications must be submitted to The Registration Centre at VIU (see address below) by the program admission deadline date of February 15, 2013.
NOTE: Limited seats are still available in the B.Ed. Year 3 Program for Fall 2013! Late applications will be accepted on a first come, first served basis. For application details, please contact Education Advising at (250) 740-6223 or 1-888-920-2221, extension 6223.
If applying to both the Post Baccalaureate Elementary and Post Baccalaureate Secondary programs, a separate VIU Admissions Application Form must be completed for each program, however only one application fee ($36.40) is required.
The deadline for applications to the VIU Teacher Education programs is February 15, 2013.
International Applications
Those applicants who require a study permit at attend VIU, please visit the following International Education weblink http://www.viu.ca/international/application.asp for admission to VIU.

Official Transcripts:
An official transcript from each post-secondary institution attended (excluding Vancouver Island University), including courses currently in progress, must be submitted by all applicants. You must contact each relevant institution to arrange for transcripts to be sent to The Registration Centre at VIU (see address below).
Unofficial copies (fax, photocopy, etc.) of transcripts are not acceptable. Official transcripts must be received by February 22, 2013.

A Completed Personal Profile Form:
Personal Profiles are required for admission into the Faculty of Education by all applicants. Upon completion and submission of the VIU Admissions Application Form, students will be given access to the on-line Personal Profile Form through their student record at https://records.viu.ca/reg/htbin/weblogin. A VIU student number is required to gain access.
If you are a new applicant to VIU, your student number will be assigned once your VIU Admission Application Form has been processed. Your student number will be included in an Acknowledgement Letter issued by the Admissions Department within a few days of receiving your VIU application. Finally, you will be permitted to save your Personal Profile and revise it at any time up to the February 22nd, 2013 deadline.
For admission purposes, Personal Profiles are weighted 40%, with Grade Point Average (GPA) being weighted 60%. Please note that gaining access to Personal Profile details after February 22nd deadline will not be possible. Should you wish to keep a copy of your Personal Profile, please ensure you save a copy in your personal files.
NOTE: All admission requirements (including the submission of official transcripts for final course work and/or prerequisite documentation) must be received by The Registration Centre at VIU (see address below) no later than May 31, 2013. This includes the submission of final transcripts for all course work completed during the Spring 2013 semester.
