Your Personal Profile:
A Crucial Part of Our Faculty Admissions Process

Note: The Personal Profile Form is currently being redesigned. Please contact Education Advising for further information.

The Personal Profile is an important part of your application & our admissions process. In your Personal Profile, you describe the reasons you wish to become a teacher and provide information about any of your specific life experiences relevant to teaching (e.g. employment and training; volunteer or community service; work with diverse groups of children or adults; languages spoken; special skills or talents; leadership roles). You also Indicate why you think these experiences are an appropriate preparation for a career in teaching. (You may wish to refer to our Program Outcomes.)

Pages 4-5 of the Personal Profile are for providing information regarding the Access Initiative. This initiative is designed to give access to individuals who are members of groups in our society that have historically been under-represented in the teaching profession in B.C. Further information on the Faculty of Education's Access Initiative.

For admission purposes, Personal Profiles are weighted 40% (with academic qualifications being weighted 60%). These profiles are evaluated by a team consisting of faculty members, practicing teachers, and school administrators. Applicants whose Personal Profile is rated as “unacceptable” by 2 of the 3 Personal Profile raters, will not be admitted to the Teacher Education Degree program. (To ensure fairness, the name of the individual applicants are not available to the Personal Profile evaluation team.)
