Digital Footprint Presentation IconManaging Digital Footprints, Social Media & Policy

Digital footprints are the traces you leave behind each time you use technology. This information can be accessed and aggregated to create profiles of you & your behaviour. Social media refers to the use of sites like Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, Delicious, Diigo, Flickr, etc. that allow users to connect & share content--increasingly part of a digital footprint. Teachers, schools and districts have a responsibility to scaffold management of digital footprints at the student, teacher & administrative levels. They also have a responsibilty to scaffold responsible reflective behaviours with regard to  technologies like social media. This half-day workshop provides an overview for managing digital footprints, issues around the use of social media, and considerations for scaffolding responsible reflective practice & policy at the classroom, school or district level.
