English Literature Love of Learning
This ain’t no ordinary book club! -- The English Department and Love of Learning
Instructors in our department have repeatedly remarked on how much they enjoy having Love of Learning students in their classrooms, since so many of these students are, like us, lovers of literature; they also bring a wealth of previous reading and life experience to discussions. If you register as a Love of Learning student ($99 registration per course + student and activity fees), you do not need to embark on a degree program or fulfill usual course pre-requisites, nor are you asked to write essays or exams. You simply read the assigned texts and bring your interpretations, ideas, and knowledge to class.
Courses in the English Department range from introductory literature courses to surveys of English, Canadian, American and other literatures, to more specialized and focussed upper-level courses. For example, our course offerings for next year include a course in Modern Arabic Literature, and one on Gay and Lesbian Autobiography.
Go here for a list of all of our upper-level courses offered in the 2010-2011 academic year. And please explore our full range of courses here.

We welcome all bookworms, bibliophiles, Blue-stockings, and late-bloomers!
