Biography
Anne McCarthy works as a technologist in the Fisheries and Aquaculture Department at Vancouver Island University. Her primary duties include managing the laboratory, guiding tours, instructing students in microalgae culture and most recently in aquaponic production of fish and vegetables. Originally from New Jersey, Anne is also a Fisheries and Aquaculture program graduate. Before working at VIU her professional experiences range from working on a yellow perch farm in North Carolina (with the snakes and cockroaches) to working in an oyster hatchery and then on a floating geoduck hatchery in Campbell River. Anne is passionate about aquaculture and aims to mentor students throughout their education at VIU.
