Study forestry at VIU because...

You want to learn the art and science of managing forests for a full range of values, using a blend of science, business, sociology and technology. Forest management in B.C. encompasses a wide range of considerations including biodiversity, cultural values, wildlife and fisheries habitat, water quality, soil conservation, visual aesthetics, recreation, as well as wood and non-timber products.

Sustainable forest management combined with the use of wood can contribute to reducing greenhouse gases and the effects of climate change on our planet.

B.C. is home to some of the most beautiful forests in the world—they are the backbone of our culture and heritage. At VIU we recognize forests for all their economic, social and environmental values. Through classroom lectures and discussion, hands-on laboratories, and outdoor activities and field trips our programs provide a balanced overview of forestry.
