Memorial and Honorary Gifts
A memorial gift can help perpetuate the values and ideals that guided someone’s life. Honorary gifts commemorate a significant event or someone who is still living. Families of those so honored will be notified of your gift; the amount, however, remains a private matter. If you are interested in making a memorial or honorary gift, please make sure to provide the appropriate information when you make or submit your gift. If you have any questions, please contact Julie Keenan, Director, Advancement & Alumni Relations Office, at email@example.com or at 250.740.6602.
Seek Expert Advice: VIU strongly recommends professional advice to ensure your financial goals are considered, your tax situation reviewed and your planned gift is tailored to your personal circumstances. Making a legacy gift involves planning and preparing legal documents Planned gifts should always be a part of your estate and/or financial planning process. If you are thinking about transferring assets that have appreciated in value, you should seek expert advice from a tax specialist or financial planner. VIU does not give legal or financial counsel.
