Professor, Social Service Diploma Program

Patrick is a social worker with 27 years experience in the human services delivery system - fourteen of these years as a sessional instructor at Vancouver Island University.

He has worked as a social worker in Saskatchewan, Alberta, Yukon, Northwest Territories and British Columbia. He has held positions that have provided opportunities to work directly in a number of human services including income assistance, juvenile justice, child protection, foster care, adoptions, mental health and addictions.

Terri Spronk, Phd

Anne Spilker, BSW (UVic), MSW (UBC), RSW.

Sessional Instructor, Social Services Diploma Program

Anne is a Social Worker with over 20 years experience in the Human Services field. Her main areas of focus have been: relationship/family work; working with refugees and new immigrants, addictions, and violence against women and children.

For the past 6 years Anne has also taught at several post-secondary institutions: The Justice Institute of BC (Trauma, Victim Services, and Group work). At the University of Victoria teaching Anti-Oppressive Social Work Practice, as well as courses in addictions. She has also supervised practicum students and supervised the completion of Prior Learning Assessments.

During the last 2 years Anne has taught several courses here at Vancouver Island University as a sessional instructor, while also maintaining a position as Program Manager with Haven Society, an organization dedicated to ending violence in all its forms.
