Academic Info World History Gateway
An independent directory compiled by Mike Madin, this website "aims to be the premier educational gateway to online college and research level Internet resources....Academic Info is the "white pages" to the academic community." This is a very good website, indeed. It's authoritative, comprehensive, and well-organized. Start here!
Eighteenth Century Resources on the Net
"A labour of love" from Jack Lynch @ Rutger's University, Newark, New Jersey on 18th century Britain, the United States, and continental Europe. This well-respected site includes material on art, architecture and landscape gardening, history, literature, music, religion and theology. One of the best eighteenth century sites in the ether.
Eighteenth Century Studies
A very handsome site maintained by the 18th Century Studies Group in the English Department at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, PA. Includes on-line texts of significant historical, philosophical, and literary
works, and links to other useful sites, such as the University of Toronto's eclectic and informative Representative Poetry On-line. Lots of material for historians here.
Historical Text Archives
"Have a Better Past!" "History's Happening, Be There!" These are some of the slogons on Don Mabry's busy, crowded site. However, amidst the noise, the site offers a wealth of material on national histories (American, British, and Canadian) and on historical themes and topics, such as movie history, history of sports, women's history, rock and roll. This site also includes some good links for history teachers.
Labyrinth: WWW Server for Medieval Studies (Georgetown University in Washington, D. C)
This well-designed site includes links to material on Arthurian studies, chivalry, medieval art, social and cultural history in the Middle Ages, Vikings, runes, and Norse culture, to name but a few topics. Eminently browsable.
