Honorary Awards
The awarding of honorary awards is intended to encourage a standard of excellence and innovation which is exemplary to students, faculty and staff. Candidates should exhibit a record of outstanding distinction and achievement in one of the following areas:
- Distinguished Alumni Award, recognizes the outstanding accomplishments of living Vancouver Island University alumni who have earned provincial or national prominence as a result of their exceptional professional achievements and/or service to society;
- Alumni Horizon Award, recognizes the outstanding achievements of Vancouver Island University alumni early in their careers (within 10 years of receiving a credential from VIU); and
- Vancouver Island University Outstanding Service Award, recognizes outstanding service to Vancouver Island University made over a number of years. Past and current employees of Vancouver Island University and alumni are not excluded from being nominated for this award.
