Hospitality Management Programs
The Hospitality Faculty delivers an applied business diploma and degree programs. The Hospitality Management Faculty offers a 4 year degree in a two year + two year format. This 2 + 2 delivery model offers students a 2 year Hospitality Management diploma plus with an additional 2 years - the Bachelor of Hospitality Management.
This delivery model offers students options. After completing the two years, the student can chose to graduate with a diploma and begin their hospitality career. Or the student can continue for two more years to complete the Bachelor of Hospitality Management degree. This delivery model also allows Hospitality and Tourism diploma graduates from across British Columbia, Canada and Internationally to transfer their credits for entry into third year of the degree.
Hospitality Management is a co-operative education program. The program requires to students to work full-time in paid, hospitality career employment during the summer break between years one, two and three. The co-operative education faculty works with the student developing their job readiness skills and assists in the matching of the student with the right Hospitality employer. The program matches students with work that enhances and reinforces their learning experience.
VIU has excellent on-site lab facilities for Hospitality Management. In demonstrations and training we use the Discovery Dining Room for fine dining, the Arbutus Room for catering, a state-of-the-art teaching kitchen, a kitchen, a full-service cafeteria lab, a front office simulation lab and a computer lab. Our small classes allow personal attention from instructors.
