Information Technology Plan

The goal of the Information Technology Plan is to outline a path for VIU to move into a leadership position in higher education. Information technologies are strategic tools to facilitate innovation in teaching, build engagemnet in learning, foster creative supportive research and distribute new knowledge and understanding.

The Technology and Systems Planning Committee inventoried and reviewed current VIU systems and technology, resources, and potential technology trends to develop a plan that will enable the institution to maintain and enhance current and future technologies. 

Information Technology Plan's thirteen recommendations are intended to outline the path for VIU to "position Information Technology as a key component of effective teaching and learning" (Academic Plan Goal 15). Positioning information technology as a key component of effective teaching and learning, through innovative and timely responses to both challenges and opportunities, will play a key role in the future success of VIU.

the Plan introduces governance, organization, service delivery, and technical system concepts and like all components of the University's intergrated plans, needs to respond to inevitable changing circumstances so must be considred a living document.
