Orientation Week
All new international students are required to attend the various orientation sessions. Orientation week will provide you with valuable information for your Vancouver Island University experience. You will meet Peer Helpers who are current students that are familiar with a wide range of information to assist you in getting started. Bring your passport & study permit with you for the international office to copy for your file. When you arrive you will be given an orientation package including schedules and information. Please bring this package with you to your scheduled orientation sessions. Details
International students must follow policies and deadlines regarding course selection, registration, tuition deadlines, etc. It is each student’s responsibility to inform themselves of these policies. During orientation, new students will also be assisted with a variety of valuable tasks including student cards, computer access, bus passes, library accounts, ISS list and will be taken on a campus and community tour.
Orientation is important to your success at VIU. If you cannot attend orientation due to your schedule, book an appointment in Building 255 (International Education) at the Main Reception to see an Advisor. You can also request to be matched with a Peer Helper to assist you. To meet a Peer Helper please contact Richard Payne.
New students that arrive will be assisted by Peer Helpers to complete items on this check list. Additional information on how to complete items on the check list can also be found online in the International Student Handbook.
