- www.scholarships.gc.ca - Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada (DFAIT) and the Canadian Bureau for International Education (CBIE) are pleased to announce the launch of an all-new enhanced scholarships web site. In addition to comprehensive information on international scholarships offered by Foreign Affairs and International Trade, the site now includes the major awards offered by other Government of Canada agencies such as:
- Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR)
- Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA)
- International Development Research Centre (IDRC)
- Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC)
- Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC)
- Canada-Latin America and the Caribbean Research Exchange Grants (LACREG) - The purpose of this program is to strengthen international partnerships and consolidate emerging networks among academic researchers from Canada and Latin America and the Caribbean. It is designed to support small collaborative research activities which will contribute to the creation, dissemination and sustained application of knowledge in the development process in at least one area of IDRC thematic priority. Eligibility: Applicants from Canada and eligible Latin American and Caribbean (LAC) countries are encouraged to apply (Argentina, Belize, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela). Value: Support through this program will be cost-shared on a 2:1 ratio by the program and the partner institutions, respectively. The maximum value of each grant under this program will be $15,000 CDN. Deadline: January 18, 2010

China-Canada Scholars Exchange Programme (2010-2011) - Under the auspices of China-Canada Scholars’ Exchange Program with China Scholarship Council acting as the executive agency, and in partnership with Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada (DFAIT), a number of awards are offered to Canadian academics and students who wish to study and/or do research in subject areas related to China in the Chinese universities that are open to Chinese Government Scholarship recipients for the academic year 2010/2011. Application for the 2010/2011 awards is now being solicited and all materials must be received by Canadian Bureau for International Education (CBIE) before February 28, 2010. Criteria for Eligibility - Applicants should be faculty members at Canadian Universities or students who have a bachelor’s degree or are enrolled in a graduate program.
