The Faculty of Management has partnerships with several educational institutions in other countries.
The University of Hertfordshire - UK
The University of Hertfordshire (UK) has been a partner for five years, and is now part of our unique dual degree Masters program. This innovative Canadian/British graduate dual degree is designed to give students an opportunity to combine new knowledge and practical experience throught the integration of theory, research, and practice that can be applied at regional, national and international levels. The University of Hertfordshire (UH) recognizes the VIU MBA program as fulfilling the requirements of their Master of Science in International Business (MScIB). As a result, on completion of the VIU MBA program, candidates will receive a Canadian MBA and a UK MscIB.
Integrated Academy of Management and Technology (INMANTEC) - India
INMANTEC, situated in Ghaziabad just outside Delhi is a university offering graduate and undergraduate education in business, information technology, law and education. Through a partnership with VIU, INMANTEC offers our Post Degree Diploma in Business Studies. As part of that program INMANTEC students will spend a month here in Nanaimo and a VIU Faculty member will teach courses at INMANTEC in India.
Udon Thani Rajabhat University - Thailand
Udon Thani Rajabhat University is an insitution very similar to VIU, offering a range of undergraduate programs including business. Through a partnership with VIU, Udon Thani is planning to offer our Bachelor of Business Administration degree. VIU Faculty will teach some courses each year at the Udon Thani campus in Thailand.
Qingdao University of Science and Technology - China
Qingdao University of Science and Technology in the modern Chinese city of Qingdao, Shandong Province, has been an official VIU partner since January 2007, specializing in Marketing. The first Qingdao cohort of students, participating in a 2 + 2 BBA transfer program, are expected at VIU in September 2009. Both partners have regular exchanges/visits of Professors. VIU Students are encouraged to act as English tutors in Qingdao in exchange for room and board and the opportunity to earn up to six credits studying Mandarin. Additional student exchange possibilities are being developed. Faculty are in preliminary discussions concerning co-operative research and student involvement.
Shanghai Lixin University of Commerce - China
Shanghai Lixin University of Commerce includes a downtown campus and a member campus in the university complex on the outskirts of the Pearl of the Orient. Lixin has forged a multifaceted partnership with VIU, the focus of which is the Accounting field. VIU Students can benefit from a 2-3 week language/cultural exchange. Lixin students are able to take advantage of an innovative 2 + 1 + ½ + 1 BBA degree program.
Shandong Institute of Business and Technology - China
Shandong Institute of Business and Technology situated in the modern coastal Chinese City of Yantai, the Shandong Institute of Business and Technology is actively involved in partnership with VIU and annual faculty exchanges have begun. Fourteen SIBT business students, including four MBA candidates, will begin studying at Vancouver Island University in September 2008. Student exchanges for language/cultural purposes are encouraged, including VIU Students tutoring English in exchange for room and board.
