About the Campus Plan
Vancouver Island University is pleased to announce the start of the planning and development of a Campus Master Plan for our Nanaimo Campus.
50 years from now
The Campus Master Plan:
- Will provided the VIU community with an opportunity to collectively develop a strategic and organized approach to integrated campus planning on our Nanaimo campus.
- Is an important requirement when applying for government funding.
- Will assist VIU in saving facilities and infrastructure costs in the future.
The Campus Master Plan was developed with input from a wide range of constituents. This input will assist VIU in creating a vision to build our campus in ways that best support the needs of students, community, employees, and anyone using or visiting the campus. To assist us in gathering this data and in developing our plan, we have engaged a consulting firm with expertise in the area of campus master planning.
To ensure that the planning process encompasses the broadest input, a Project Steering Committee (PSC) was established with representation from all campus constituencies. The PSC provided advice and input to the planning consultants, and seek input from the VIU community. This input process included several Campus Open Houses and an online suggestion box where members of our internal and external communities contributed ideas.
We thank everyone that supported this important initiative.
